Drawings are done on museum quality, acid-free, conservation type illustration board which is all paper content, and not a veneer of paper over board. The board is larger than the requested size drawing, usually with a 2 1/2 inch border. I typically create drawings in 3 sizes: 8" X 10", 10" X 12", and 12" X 16", and can do larger sizes.

All drawings can be shipped anywhere around the world

The option to add color is always available
. If selected, color adds a whole new dimension, especially when utilizing either fall or spring colors. Either choice, black and white, or color, the property is captured to show it's best qualities and personal view.

First, I listen

Talking to the owners in depth reveals how they view and feel about their homes. As a result, each rendering has a different approach and a personal look. I visit the property, if within reasonable distance, and take photographs. I ask the owners which angles of the house they prefer to be shown and I'll recommend a "best" view to be taken into consideration. Alternatively, I can be sent photos of the main view (which is the view of the property that will be drawn), and helpful close-ups of the various sections of the house (i.e. front entrance, windows, etc.) to incorporate all the details into the drawing.

Artistic license where needed

Presenting a property at it's best often requires my use of two-Dimensional Landscaping (2DL). With the owners permission, I move trees that are blocking the main entrance, cut down shrubbery to show off window treatments, or build up landscaping that is newly planted to project it's future growth. I have often landscaped entire properties when the building was still under construction!

We discuss where the drawing will be displayed and for what other purposes will it be used. And of course which choice, color or black and white?

Creation

The drawings are first rendered in pencil, then ink. If color has been requested, the rendering will have fewer dark shades and color will be applied using fine quality pencil colors.
